“The vision of a champion is someone bent over, drenched in sweat, at the point of exhaustion when no one else is watching.”
Anson Dorrance
For my Birthday I received one of the most thoughtful, motivating letters I’ve ever received from my friend, Liz, and on the back of it was this quote. It’s taken from the words of coach Anson Dorrance, as he watched the soccer player Mia Hamm putting in the work on her own to get where she needed to be. Work she didn’t know was being watched. Work she just did without being told to do. Today I cemented these words in my brain as I ran the remnants of last night’s lager out of my system.
We can all be champs if we let ourselves be, and a champ doesn’t have to be an Olympic athlete.
